Nosferatu, A Symphony of Horror (1922) F.W. Murnau

New Score by Silent Orchestra

The term, "new" is relative, right? There are very few films that were terrifying more than 80 years ago and still terrifying today.   Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau's 1922 film is not the earliest, but certainly one of the most frightening portrayals of the Bram Stoker Dracula story.

In January 2001, Image Entertainment and Film Preservation Associates released a new edition of Nosferatu with a stunning restored picture and a new score by Silent Orchestra. The DVD was produced by David Shepard.

The score incorporates a deep respect for classic and contemporary film music and our collective background in a broad range of genres. The sound is a blend of orchestral and world percussion, symphonic instrument sounds, electronics and acoustic sound design. As always, our goal is to support the intentions of the film makers and bring the films to a new audience.

We have had many requests for a CD of our score and we are pleased to announce that one is in the works. For now please enjoy this sneak preview.
