We performed our score for the F.W. Murnau classic silent, NOSFERATU (1922), at the beautiful Lucas Theater, for the 2014 Savannah Film Festival. Thanks to all the wonderful staff and volunteers at Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) who helped us pull off this show without a hitch. Check out this great photo by John McKinnon, courtesy of SCAD. Somehow we manage to fill half the orchestra pit. We can’t wait to go back for another show!
July 2014 brings new music by Silent Orchestra! We were pleased to contribute a 45 minute score for the groundbreaking production of A Dream Within A Dream. Part of the 2014 Capital Fringe Festival, this groundbreaking immersive transmedia performance is all about the life, death and works of Edgar Allan Poe. Our friend Edgar has died under the most mysterious of circumstances, yet there have been sightings of the would-be-dead writer, all over town. Will you help us solve these bewildering series of events?
Here is an in-depth preview of our new opus. Could there be a new album in the works? Need you ask?
The greatest and most lavish silent film ever made now has a score by Silent Orchestra! We return to the McEvoy Auditorium at the Smithsonian American Art Museum to premiere an original score for the classic film, Metropolis. This 1927 silent German film is set in a future society divided into two classes: one of planners and managers who live in luxury and one of workers who live and work underground.
You are in for a treat as this newly restored version includes about 25 minutes of previously lost footage. This expressionist masterpiece — the most expensive silent film ever made — will be brought to life with our electrifying new score!
May 14, 3pm at the Smithsonian American Art Museum, one show only! Tickets are free but get there early to get in! We’re not kidding.
See the Smithsonian web site for details on the show.
Check out highlights of our score. In this sample you will hear, Moloch, Death to the Machines, Here Comes the Flood, Furioso, Yoshiwara and Robot Transformation.
We are performing our acclaimed score for the classic silent film, NOSFERATU at AFI Silver Theatre in Silver Spring MD. Shows are Friday Oct. 29 at 10pm and Saturday Oct. 30 at 7:30 and 10pm.
Review of last year’s show:
“Now I really want to sing the praises of Silent Orchestra because they provided an amazing musical score… Everything about the score works perfectly with the film and being able to hear it live is an amazing way to see the film. – Rick ‘The Hat’ Bman”
