METROPOLIS!

The greatest and most lavish silent film ever made now has a score by Silent Orchestra!   We return to the McEvoy Auditorium at the  Smithsonian American Art Museum to premiere an original score for the classic film, Metropolis.  This 1927 silent German film is set in a future society divided into two classes: one of planners and managers who live in luxury and one of workers who live and work underground.

You are in for a treat as this newly restored version includes about 25 minutes of previously lost footage.  This expressionist masterpiece — the most expensive silent film ever made — will be brought to life with our electrifying new score!

May 14, 3pm at the Smithsonian American Art Museum, one show only! Tickets are free but get there early to get in! We’re not kidding.

See the Smithsonian web site for details on the show.

Check out highlights of our score. In this sample you will hear, Moloch, Death to the Machines, Here Comes the Flood, Furioso, Yoshiwara and Robot Transformation.
